the redemption project

the redemption project

Huge news…. unbelievably huge for us. Where have I been for the last month? All over the place! I took some time catching up with my family, and spending a little bit of time with my wife (who graciously has sacrificed our time together for this project). I’m back now, and in full swing. I’ve been saving this news for quite some time, but now it’s time to unleash.

Back in May I wrote about my inspiring lunch with a family. This family is Henry & Neri Tran, and they are the hosts for our first overseas documentary. They are the founders of the “Home of Grace” orphanage in Cambodia, serving several small villages outside of Phnom Penh. They are a HUGE impact to the lives of people throughout that region.

What’s even more impressive is the story of how they got to where they are now. Henry was a Vietnamese helicopter pilot in the 1970s. As a highly skilled & educated individual, he posed far too much of a risk to the communists in his country, so they put him in prison. Upon his release, at a welcome home party, he met his wife, Neri, and they began their life together. Soon thereafter Henry learned that he was to be arrested again, so he, Neri, and their newborn baby fled for their lives. They narrowly escaped capture in daring border crossings, but they found safety in the US in Broken Arrow, OK.

Since all 6 of their kids are adults or in college, Henry & Neri were ready for the next stage in their life. On a return visit to Vietnam, Neri made a side trip into the Cambodian countryside. She saw the immense poverty there, and her heart broke. She called Henry, and the plans for their orphanage began to unfold.

Although Henry & Neri safely fled the tyranny of their home culture, they knew that they had to return one day to redeem it. They have spent the last few years working with the Bati people, meeting their needs in every sense, and began construction on the orphanage. This is the reason for the Redemption Project.

At the end of October this year, Henry & Neri are officially dedicating the first building of the Home of Grace Orphanage. Many friends & dignitaries will be there, and we’ll be there with a camera crew to tell the story.

We have already started fundraising for the Redemption Project, but we need your help. Please consider helping us tell the story of the Tran family, and the amazing works of the Home of Grace in Cambodia. If you would like to donate to our cause, please follow the Paypal link in the sidebar of this page.

Thank you.

The Trans have such a cool story. I’m really looking forward to seeing it captured on tape!
